This week’s compilation of athlete tweets, not surprisingly, focused on the drama surrounding what has been a shortened NBA free-agency period. Last week, David Stern pulled the plug on a blockbuster three-team trade that would have sent Hornets All-Star Chris Paul to the Los Angeles Lakers. In response, Paul tweeted simply what most basketball fans were thinking, “Wow.” Dwight Howard made light of his current standoff with Orlando Magic management, suggesting that he might be changing sports. And Chad Ochocinco unloaded a trio of tweets that may have sprung our favorite new sports phrase of the year: “Sharon is Karen.”
As usual, we’ve scoured our timeline from the past week to bring you what we believe to be the best of the best that athletes have to offer via Twitter. TRENTON, N.J. — A New York City man has pleaded guilty to brokering the sale of black-market organs in what prosecutors say is the first ever federal conviction for illegally selling human kidneys for profit.
Levy Izhak Rosenbaum pleaded guilty Thursday in a federal courtroom in Trenton to brokering three illegal kidney transplants for New Jersey-based customers in exchange for payments of $120,000 or more.

NEW YORK — Stymied by the NBA lockout, Blake Griffin is going to work for Will Ferrell instead.
This week, the Los Angeles Clippers All-Star forward is interning at Funny Or Die, the comedy website co-founded by Ferrell and Adam McKay. Griffin arrived at the site’s LA offices Tuesday to begin three days of work in video production.
He will help write, shoot, edit and act in several videos for the site. Funny Or Die quickly creates digital comedy videos, often with celebrity guest appearances.

Fans in Warrensville Heights, Ohio expected to see a run-of-the-mill summer league game over the weekend. But that was before the state’s public enemy number one and current Miami Heat star LeBron James decided to make a surprise appearance.
Almost a year after announcing his decision, King James was back in an Ohio gymnasium, this time dazzling fans with his remarkable play and a few highlight reel dunks.
One dunk in particular must have given the Cavs fans in the building flashbacks to James’ back-to-back MVP seasons in Cleveland. During a fast break, James threw the ball off the backboard, and then slammed it down with his head nearly rim-level, while running full-speed. While the stuff was most definitely a treat for the fans it attendance, you have to wonder if it also served as a reminder of what could have been.

The NBA lockout is official and fans everywhere are gasping for air. The league is coming off one of its best finals of the past decade and the highest rated draft in 15 years, so feeling sad that we wonâ??t see pro basketball until January is only natural.
During the last lockout in 1999, many players came back completely out of shape. All-stars and Olympians like Vin Baker and Shawn Kemp were in the prime of their careers, still just 29 and 28 respectively, yet became cautionary tales and never regained the explosive prowess that once made them both so great.
While Kemp actually averaged 20.5 points during the shortened 1998-99 season, he did so on a dreadful Cleveland team that still wore these uniforms. During his final four NBA seasons and still relatively young, he averaged just 9.3 points and 5.5 rebounds.

DETROIT — Ford Motor Co. says its U.S. sales rose 10.4 percent in June thanks to new products like the Fiesta subcompact and revamped Explorer SUV.
Explorer sales more than doubled over last June, while sales of the Fiesta more than quadrupled. Focus small car sales were up 41 percent.
