WASHINGTON — The Transportation Department says Federal Aviation Administration chief Randy Babbitt is on a leave of absence and his employment is being reviewed following his arrest over the weekend for drunken driving.

According to Fairfax City police, Babbitt was charged with driving while intoxicated after a patrol officer spotted him driving on the wrong side of the street and pulled him over about 10:30 p.m. Saturday in Fairfax, Va.

Ron Paul said the Transportation Security Administration is “abusive” toward passengers and “accused of all kind of sexual activities” during Tuesday’s GOP debate, hosted by NBC News and Politico.

“Look at the monstrosity we have at the airports,” Paul said. “These TSA agents are abusive. Sometimes they’re accused of all kinds of sexual activities on the way they maul people at the airport.”

Paul said the government agency could not protect passengers as well as private companies and said the 9/11 attacks were the result of too much government involvement in airline security.

CHICAGO — Two Delta Airlines aircraft have collided on the tarmac at Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport.

Delta spokeswoman Chris Kelly Singley says a plane headed to Minneapolis and one headed to Atlanta made struck each other before takeoff Friday. Singley said there were no injuries.
